Vallely, Peter “Pete” (1927-2023)
The family announces with great sorrow the passing of the incomparable Peter Vallely on April 9, 2023, in his 96th year. He leaves his spirit behind to live on in his wife Catherine (née McLean), his children Isobel (Jay Ralph), Angela (Bobby Bogdanov), Brad (Carrie Denommée) and John (Jen Geddes), as well as his true joys of life, his grandchildren Gabe, Sofia, Zachary, Jacob and Nyah.
Pete lived his life to its fullest. He enjoyed walking his many dog companions, chatting with his friends, going on family road trips, attending Jays games, sports (in particular tennis, squash and his lifelong passion of hockey, playing all, well into his 80’s) and so much more. Pete loved being on top of the news (and the weather) and always had an interesting story to share. His work at Cambrian and his earlier life as a priest, were also very important to him. He never suffered a fool, but also never missed an opportunity to make a new friend, striking up conversations with everyone he met. He was forever generous, gentle (though he’d fake gruff), and kind, always seeing and praising the best in you. Pete was living proof that the good don’t always die young… some live well for a very long time! He will be forever missed and loved.
Friends are invited to St. Kevin’s Parish (Val Therese) to celebrate his life. Visitation will take place in the Parish Hall, Friday April 14th 2023, from 5pm – 7pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday April 15th 2023, at 11am, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a charity close to your heart. Cremation services provided by Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury.
