PETER LAWRENCE TUSTIN, born September 21, 1954, loving son of Ross Lawrence Tustin(d.) and Marie Dunlop(d.) of Willowdale, and devoted, loving husband of Joanne Cockerill of Valentia, left us on May 30, 2024 in Palliative Care at North York General Hospital, after a challenging and valiantly fought battle with cancer over two and a half years.
«Peter the Mailman» spent 39 years at Canada Post, as a letter carrier, with peanuts for squirrels, and dog biscuits, making sure that every squirrel and dog on his walk, was well fed. He enjoyed an extensive «family» of co-workers/friends for life, at CP many of whom became golf and travel buddies.
It was through his job that he met and married Joanne on October 4, 1997 and became a «favourite Brother-in-Law» and a beloved «Uncle Peter» to 2 generations of Cockerills. Although growing up as an only child, Peter had many cousins. In helping Joanne in her art business, Peter soon found an ever widening circle of friends, and loved participating in the craft shows at Valentia and Little Britain, and other events. His wit, sense of humour, general knowledge and calm, easy-going personality, will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life will be held at Valentia Church and Community Centre on Friday, June 7, with visitation at 11:00 a.m., service at 12:00, interment at South Valentia Lakeside Cemetery, then followed by a luncheon at Valentia.
