ELSIPOGTOG, NB – Peter Thomas Augustine 77, of
Elsipogtog passed away peacefully at the Stella Maris Hospital in
Ste-Anne-de-Kent on Thursday, October 26, 2023. Born in Mars
Hill, Maine, he was the son of the late Peter Augustine and late Mary
(Clement) Augustine.
Peter Thomas was a carpenter by trade; he volunteered his
time as Deputy Fire Chief for over 30 years and with Saint John
Ambulance for over 27 years. Peter Thomas loved the children
in his community, he was a foster parent and his door was always open
to offer a nice hot meal to the kids and family and friends.
He was a «jack of all trades» and always willing to lend a
helping hand. He will be missed by all who knew
him.
Peter Thomas will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 57
years, Madeline (Peters) Augustine; six daughters, Elizabeth Augustine
(Elwood), Mary Verna Augustine, Sheila Simon (Dennis), Angeline
Bernard (Wally), Cassandra Augustine (DJ), Taylor Wilmot all of
Elsipogtog; three sons, Peter Craig Augustine (Chantal), of Miscou,
Floyd Augustine, Jason Augustine (Liza) both of Elsipogtog and many
grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is also survived by one sister Mary Ann Weeks of
Connecticut; one brother, Michael Augustine of Elsipogtog;
sister-in-law, Doris Copage of Elsipogtog and many nieces and
nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one daughter,
Grace; two sisters, infant Christine, Mary and four brothers, Norman,
Stephen, Pat and Sylvester.
Visitation will begin on Monday at 5:00 pm at 123 Hollow
Court in Elsipogtog until time of the service. A Funeral
Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at 10:30 am at
Ste. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church in
Elsipogtog.
