HEGMANS, Peter Eugene (November 26, 1957 – March 24, 2024)
Passed away, surrounded by his loved ones, after a short, courageous battle with cancer, at Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Sunday, March 24th, 2024, in his 67th year. Pete adored his wife Lori, for 45 years. During their time together, they created a very loving and close family. He was a dedicated father to Trista (Tim) Royal, of Simcoe; Ginny (Marcus) Schaefer, of London. His pride and joy were his grandsons Elijah and Jonah, and later his step-grandchildren Chloe and Cody. He was the best “Bopa” anyone could ask for. Late treasures were Matilda, Penny and Chewbacca (his Shih Tzus). He later added Charlie and Darla to his family, as he loved animals so much.
Pete was a resident of Simcoe for 46 years and worked at Gourmet Baker for 13 years. Pete continued to be a dedicated employee as a machine operator at Treehouse Foods in Brantford for 19 years. He loved his job and always took pride in his work. Pete was involved for many years in Calvary Church’s spectacular productions, where his personality and love shone through in the role of Jesus. Pete will be greatly missed by his family, friends and co-workers and anyone that he touched. But his new home is in Heaven.
A Celebration of Life Service will be planned for a later date. Friends, neighbours and relatives may share favourite memories, express personal condolences, upload photos via Pete’s online tribute page at verhoevefuneralhomes.com . Memorial donations (by cheque) would be appreciated to establish a trust for Eli and Jonah Deckers (cheques to “Trista Royal”) or via Pete’s online tribute page to the “Simcoe and District Humane Society” or by contacting the Maurice J.
