Obituary of Pauline Ann Manders
August 27, 1932 – Nottingham, England
January 25, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta
After a life well lived Pauline Manders passed away on January 25th, 2023, at the age of 90. Pauline was born in Nottingham, England. She had an idyllic childhood surrounded by her adoring brothers, close friends, and special pets. After completing her schooling, Pauline attended business college with a specialty in accounting.
In 1953, Pauline met her beloved husband Donald, who was stationed overseas with the Canadian Airforce. After a whirlwind romance they married and lived in a small village in France. Shortly thereafter they travelled to Canada and settled in Calgary. There they built a home and raised their two children. Throughout their marriage Pauline and Don shared a love of travel and adventure. They made many trips to Europe and other exotic destinations meeting many new friends.
During her career, Pauline was an office manager for several law firms in Calgary. Many of the friendships she made during this time have been nurtured to this day. Pauline volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club and Grandparents Program at her community school. She loved children so much and sought to give them the one-on-one attention they were seeking.
Family and friends were everything to Pauline and she was a selfless, kind, caring mother, grandmother, and friend who was adored by all who had the good fortune of having her in their life.
Pauline is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Donald, her daughter Debi Clarke (Chris); grandchildren Sarah Clarke, Spencer Clarke, Chelsea Leonard (Daniel) and great- grandchildren Nate and Alex, as well as her extended, loving family in the UK.
She was predeceased by her beloved son Rick Manders and her brothers, Michael, and David Gunn.
A Celebration of Life will occur at a later date. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
In living memory of Pauline, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, Ab t2x 3j3, Telephone: 403-256-9575.
