Paul «Kitch» Kitchen Obituary
Paul Joel Kitchen born February 18, 1950, passed on January 6, 2024 at the Milton District Hospital,
surrounded with the love of his family.
Predeceased by his brother Kerry, son Blair, and parents Norma and Bruce.
Paul is sadly missed by his wife of 50 years, Shirley (nee Bogdanowicz) and children
Mike (Erika), daughter-in-law Rochelle, Brian, Laurie (Shawn) Dietrich, Jeffrey, and Brad (Amanda),
brother Kevin (Karen), 14 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and extended
family and friends.
He was a dedicated family man and leaves behind a legacy.
Paul was a lifelong Miltonian and spent his career working for Ecodyne Ltd. in Burlington as
an Environmental Engineer for 40 years, where he made many lifetime friends.
Kitch attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York on a hockey scholarship. It
is there Paul met his wife, Shirley. He kept RPI alumni friends and helped organize a team for
the Georgetown tournaments. He was active in the Milton hockey community, including
coaching in the Milton Minor Hockey league, and playing for the Milton Oldstars and Sunday
morning hockey league.
Paul loved the family cottage on Lake Simcoe that he helped his father build when he was 15.
He continued to spend every summer there with family and cottage friends.
Paul was always busy with a project on the go, whether it be making backyard hockey rinks in
the winter, hiking the Bruce Trail with Shirley, various carpentry projects, household repairs or
lending a hand to friends and family in need until Myelofibrosis slowed him down in his final
months.

Visitation will take place at McKersie & Early Funeral Home (114 Main St. E.) on Tuesday, January 9
from 2:00 – 4:00pm and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral service to take place at Grace Anglican Church
(317 Main St) Wednesday, January 10 at 11:00 with a luncheon to follow the interment
(Interment will be for the family only please) at the Milton Evergreen Cemetery, in the Church Hall.
