It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Breen on Monday, February 20,
2023, at Innisfree House at the age of 55.
Paul will be deeply missed by so many. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend Sue; his
daughters Sarah (Sam) and Natalie; his parents George and Donna Breen; his siblings Janet
(Mike) Robinson, Steven (Jan) Breen, and Dawn Breen as well as his in-laws May (Don) Allen,
Andrew (Lillian) Bass, and John Bass. Paul was also a loving uncle to many nieces and
nephews; Tyler, Katelin, Steph, Jeff, Megan, Kelly, Jory, Liz, Ryan, Anna, and Cristian.
Paul was a talented musician who played bass for Electric Factory, The Exceptional Gentlemen,
CASH tribute band, St. Jerome’s choir, and multiple other groups. Through his love for music,
Paul has cultivated many lasting friendships and will be missed dearly by the music community.
Paul started playing music at an early age and was already a working musician in his teen
years. He was involved in the creation and release of 2 albums with The Exceptional
Gentlemen. When Paul left the band to focus on other musical interests, he became a ‘go-to’
bass player for hire – he was a reliable and thoughtful player, but more importantly, he was a
great guy to hang with.
Paul was lovingly referred to as «do it all Paul». He was the ultimate handyman, always the first
to show up for everyone. Paul was a talented craftsman; from renovations to building decks and
furniture to making his own speaker cabinets, he always enjoyed helping out and working on his
own projects. Paul worked as a Sheet Metal Worker and leaves behind many friends at
Enertech Maintenance Contractor Inc. and The University of Waterloo.
Paul was known for being the kindest, sweetest, and most genuine person. He was loved
unconditionally by his wife Sue, and his two daughters Sarah and Natalie. He was an extremely
supportive and involved father and a wonderful role model.
We would like to thank Dr. Kilmury, Dr. Molckovsky, the Grand River Hospital Foundation –
Cancer Center team, 6th-floor Oncology, and Innisfree House for their support and
compassionate care over the past year.
Paul’s family will receive relatives and friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23 at
the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Visitation will continue on Sunday, February 26th from 12:30 – 1:15 p.m. with a celebration of life to follow in the chapel of the Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Grand River Hospital Foundation
– Cancer Center or Lisaard and Innisfree Hospice would be appreciated by the family (cards are
available at the funeral home).
