1947-2024
Paul
Cameron MacFarlane left this world July 7, 2024, two weeks before his
seventy-seventh birthday. Born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, the son
of Albina Long MacFarlane and David Cameron MacFarlane.
Paul
moved to the bright city lights of Halifax in the early 70’s and
worked in several well-known culinary establishments. It was at the
original Five Fisherman where he first met Robert Kingdon, and this
developed into an enduring friendship lasting almost 50 years. While
working in the restaurant trade it was well known around town that
Paul was a sympathetic ear for many problems various young people were
having. Such compassion stayed with him for life and rendered him a
valued friend.
In the
early 80’s Paul was one of the co-owners of Introduction Designs. The
design shop was a high-end European furniture store bought
specifically so each would have a compassionate partner while each
took care of a mortally ailing sibling. He brought his artistic talent
and values to the store, and it prospered nicely. While at Fat Franks,
in 1988, he was asked to join the owners at their new venture in
Wolfville, the Tattingstone Inn. In 1991 he became part of the team at
Acton’s Grill & Cafe, also in Wolfville.
Besides
his parents, Paul was predeceased by brother Edward. Paul will be
sorely missed by Robert; his brother, Peter William MacFarlane and
wife Ruth Ann MacFarlane; nieces, Jennifer (Robert Siklodi), Laura
(Shane Besler); and nephew, Jonathan (Janet Leung); as well as his
grand nieces, a family who all loved him unconditionally.
We would
like to express our gratitude to the medical staff at Valley Regional
Hospital and Dr. Michael Keogh for their excellent care and
compassion, as well as Dr. Sue Robinson at the Cancer Centre of the
QEII.
There
will be no visitation. An interment service will be held at Lower
Horton Cemetery in Grand Pre, NS on Friday, July 12 at 1 PM.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and
Cremation Services, Kentville.
