Paul Bourassa passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at the age of 72 years, after a life filled with love, kindness, and remarkable accomplishments. He was a man who left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Paul was the cherished husband of Elaine Bourassa and a loving stepfather to Laurie (Mike) Hollis. He was a doting grandfather to Samantha Kobylak (Michael) and Dallas Znidaric, and a proud great-grandfather to Asher Dyck. He shared a special bond with his sister, Jeannine Lawlor, brother, George Bourassa, and his nephew and nieces.
In his early years, Paul was an exceptional student who attended University of Regina and the University of Saskatchewan, where he earned his law degree. His education laid the foundation for a distinguished career as an attorney, a role in which he was deeply respected for his knowledge and unwavering integrity. One of Paul’s greatest honours was being named Queen’s Council in 2021. He had an innate ability to balance his professional responsibilities while remaining deeply involved in his community.
Paul’s interests were diverse. He had a passion for sports, particularly golf and in his early years, flag football. He was an avid kayaker, and loved hockey as a player and a spectator. Paul was also a voracious reader, often engrossed in a good book, a habit that kept his mind sharp and his imagination alive.
Paul’s love for his family was profound and unwavering. He was a steadfast presence in their lives, always there to offer support, share a laugh, or impart wisdom. His relationship with his wife, Elaine, was the epitome of a loving partnership, filled with mutual respect and admiration.
Paul’s intelligence was not only reflected in his successful career, but also in his daily interactions. He had a knack for making complex subjects understandable. Paul’s kindness was legendary, always ready with a helping hand. He often went out of his way to assist others, a testament to his generous spirit. Paul’s loving nature extended beyond his family, touching the lives of friends, colleagues, and everyone who had the privilege to know him.
In his passing, we remember a man who lived his life with grace, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community. A man whose intelligence shone brightly, not only in his professional achievements, but also in his everyday interactions. Service to the community was very important to Paul. Celebration of Paul’s Life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery.
