McSwiggan, Patrick Anthony
Passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, after a short illness, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, in his 89th year.
Beloved husband of the late Irene (2015). Loving father of Kathleen (Darryl), Patrick (Debbie), and Anne (Derek). Cherished grandfather of Kevin, Jesse, Heather, Sean, Christopher, Dylan, and Meagan. Dear brother of Elizabeth, Kathleen, Anne, and Patricia.
Predeceased by his parents Mary Ellen & Paddy, and his siblings Mary, John, Edmund, Peter, Eamon, and Theresa.
Pat will be fondly remembered by all his friends and extended family circle.
Pat emigrated from his home in Gorticastle, N. Ireland in 1956 to settle in Canada where he would later meet his loving wife Irene. Together, the two created a wonderful life built on friendship, faith and family. The heartbeat of Ireland always lived within Pat – evidence of this came from his immaculately kept garden, love for a strongly steeped tea, and the way he would light up when he was on the phone with someone from “across the pond”. He had an incredible memory and the ability to retell stories with exceptional detail. Pat was known by those around him for his lifelong curiosity and interest in all things news.
As per his wishes, cremation will take place with a private urn burial at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. A Daily TV Mass sponsored in Pat’s name will be held at a later date.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Crohn’s & Colitis Canada or Lakeridge Health Foundation-Palliative Care. Online condolences may be shared at www.armstrongfh.ca
