A Life Full of Love and Dedication
Pat was born at home on July 30, 1946, in Peesane, Saskatchewan. Her family moved frequently due to her father’s work with the CNR. While living in Somme, Saskatchewan, she met the love of her life, Harry Chute, and they wed on July 28, 1962. They built a life together on a farm near Somme, where they raised their family and worked tirelessly.
While on the farm, Pat managed several home-based businesses, including selling eggs and Lifetime cookware, and running Creek Fork Farms alongside Harry. She also worked as a bookkeeper, custodian, and volunteered extensively in the community. Her contributions to local school reunions, the Ladies’ Auxiliary, and the Shand Fair showcased her organizational skills and baking talents. She also planted and tended large gardens, which she processed herself.
In 1988, Pat and Harry left farming and opened P&H Video in Porcupine Plain. They relocated to Edmonton, Alberta in 1991 to be closer to their family. Pat worked in various roles, from bakeries and restaurants to apartment, motel, and senior lodge management, all while cherishing time with her children and grandchildren.
Building a Retirement Dream
In 2001, Pat and Harry retired to an acreage at Bonnie Lake Resort near Vilna, Alberta. Together, they designed and built their home and outbuildings, a labor of love involving their children and grandchildren. Pat returned to her passion for gardening and cherished hosting family gatherings, often around the firepit. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, always ready to lend a helping hand.
Although Pat was naturally shy, she was a kind and compassionate woman who built strong, meaningful relationships with her neighbors and friends. Her home was a welcoming space, always open to others, and her generosity was evident in her favorite saying: “There is always room at my table for one more.”
Final Years
In 2014, Pat and Harry moved back to Edmonton for medical care. Following Harry’s passing in 2020 and her own health challenges, Pat continued to live independently until she was hospitalized in October 2024.
