Peacefully on Saturday, December 10, 2023, Pat Ducharme passed away at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 83 years.
Pat will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Janis Ducharme (Raymond Saltise), grandchildren Blair Ducharme and Jeffrey Ducharme (Shayla), brother Jim Ducharme (Jocelyn), sisters Sherry Bell and Marie Mangin, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Elaine Ducharme (nee Klyne), daughter Regina Ducharme, grandson Sheldon Ducharme, parents Rod and Rosina Ducharme, sibling Leo Ducharme Sr., Ted Ducharme, Bryan Ducharme, Norman Ducharme, Olivia Strang, Nora Hiebert and Clara Marriott.
Pat was born on December 4, 1940 in Portage la Prairie, MB and lived in St. Ambroise, MB. He worked for 40 years with the Manitoba Department of Highways. Pat also worked at the Port of Churchill. And over the years he also worked with his Dad and brothers doing log hauling and landscaping. At a very young age he learned to trap, hunt and fish from his dad Rod. From these teachings he guided at the Family Green Head Lodge and with his brother at J.D.’s Hunting Lodge. Pat volunteered at the St. Ambroise Catholic Church and also at the Regency House – Meal Program. He enjoyed travelling, gardening, picking berries and apples from his yard. Pat also enjoyed playing Bingo and VLT’s. He really loved going to sit at McDonald’s Walmart daily and visit with the coffee crew.
A celebration of Pat’s life will be held at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 11:00 am, led by Father Michael Savarimuthu. Interment for Pat and Elaine Ducharme will follow at St. Ambroise Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Pat’s memory to the St. Ambroise Cemetery, 1125 Saskatchewan Ave East, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3Y8.
