Obituary
Pastor Dan Rogge, born October 7, 1966 in Kitchener, ON, was peacefully welcomed into the arms of his Heavenly Father on the evening of Thursday, October 12, 2023, at his home in Milton, ON. He leaves behind a profound legacy of love, Christian faith, and unwavering service to his Lord, his family, and the community of Milton.
An exceptionally caring, selfless, and devoted husband of almost 33 years, Dan has gone ahead of his beautiful wife, Natalie, whom he loved, treasured and built countless memories with in their many years together. For the last year, Dan and Natalie were blessed to care for Dan’s 90-year-old mother, Maria Rogge, affectionately known to so many as “Mutti”, in their family home. Dan loved and honoured her for the gift of life she chose to give him at his time of birth. With Pastor Dan’s unexpected and immediate transition into the presence of the Lord, he is now reunited with “Vati”, his father, Ernie Rogge, who has gone on before (June 11, 2019). Dan will be greatly missed by his brother Ron Rogge (Marie) and family and his sister Verena Lanoue (Serge) and family. He is deeply cherished by Hank and Carrolle Golow, Natalie’s parents, and Natalie’s brother Steve (Nancy) and family. Although Pastor Dan and Natalie were not blessed with children of their own, they poured their lives into the many families, youth, and “spiritual children» who eagerly and wholeheartedly loved them in return. Lifelong «friends-like-family» include Esther and Raymond Kessler and their children.
In April 1992, Pastor Dan and Natalie came to Milton to a small church congregation surrounded by farmland. As New Life Church grew, so did the town of Milton around it, and Pastor Dan became a fixture in the lives of everyone who came to know him.
Whether you knew Pastor Dan as a neighbour, at the gym, in the grocery store, the bank, or throughout the community – in every interaction, no matter how small, he met each individual with a genuine and captivating smile. He took a personal interest in their lives and in learning the small details of who they were – including their name and what it meant. He was truly one of a kind. The high-fives, fist bumps, and cologne hugs will never be forgotten. Pastor Dan was always available to lend wisdom and a helping hand. He was a man of his word.
Pastor Dan’s life and ministry was characterized by his deep faith in Christ, his kind-hearted spirit, and selfless dedication to the Lord and His people both locally and globally. Even when on vacation, he and Natalie would always be found in a church on a Sunday morning, and often in the front row. He pursued his calling with unwavering determination and served as the spiritual anchor of the New Life Church family in Milton, ON where he made a profound impact on lives for over three decades – a lasting legacy of compassion and service that will be felt for generations still to come.
Pastor Dan left his mark on every inch of the church – whether managing a building project, plowing snow, cutting grass, painting, planning large banquets, cooking fabulous food, shaping the vision of the ministry, teaching, preaching, or praying with the last individual present on a Sunday – his love for the church was evident in every corner, every program, every service, every seat.
His impact and ministry extended far beyond the town of Milton. Most recently, Natalie and Dan and the New Life Church family have been passionately engaged in building churches in remote communities in Liberia, including New Life Flumpa and Barlorplay, where the message of Jesus is changing hearts and bringing purpose for living.
On good days, and difficult ones, Pastor Dan never let anyone or anything take away his Hallelujah – a testament to his unwavering faith and trust in Jesus.
» While I’m sitting in this chair, I’m dancing on the inside. I’m jumping on the inside!
And there is going to be a time that comes, and it’s gonna come soon, I’m believing,
that I will be jumping on the outside as well.»
(Excerpt from Pastor Dan’s Final Sermon on Sunday, October 8, 2023)
