Otto von Rennenkampff, 91, passed away peacefully at home with his family in Manotick, Ontario on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 after a battle with skin cancer. He was born on August 29, 1932 to Ernst and Elsbeth von Rennenkampff in Estonia.
Otto came to Canada in 1952 sponsored by the Lutheran church to work on a farm. Otto married Mary-Lou Burt in 1959 in London and they were married for over 52 years until Mary-Lou passed away in 2012. They had two children, Carol Horn (husband Blair) and Peter Rennenkampff (wife Jovana). Loving Grandfather of Jake Horn and George Horn. Dear brother of Christina von Wahl.
Otto had a long career at Shell Canada where he worked through various roles ending as a Sales Manager. The family moved from London to Toronto to Richmond Hill and finally to Sudbury. He finished his working days at Ultramar Energy. He volunteered for Mended Hearts, Alzheimer Society and the Royal Canadian Legion. Otto loved gardening, the outdoors, and driving far and wide across this country. Dancing of all forms was his favourite activity and that is how he made many friends. Otto truly thrived in Northern Ontario. He will be missed.
Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service in Trinity Lutheran Church, 746 Colborne Street, London, ON on Thursday, April 4, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Mended Hearts.
