It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ottavio Marchi at the remarkable age of 96, just ten days short of his 97th. Ottavio peacefully reunited with his beloved wife, Luisa, in the embrace of heaven. A devoted father, Ottavio leaves behind a legacy of love and pride in his two sons, Giorgio (Nora) and Sergio.
Ottavio, affectionately known as Nonno, was a source of joy and inspiration to his grandchildren, Natasha (Brandon) and Paolo (Sabrina). He took immense pride in their accomplishments and cherished the special moments they shared together. Ottavio’s love for his family knew no bounds, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
As the youngest child in a family of eight, Ottavio’s name itself told the tale of his unique position within the Marchi clan. Reunited in heaven with his six brothers and one sister, along with his loving parents, Paolo and Maria, Ottavio finds solace in the warm embrace of family once again.
Ottavio’s impact extended beyond borders, touching the lives of nieces and nephews in Canada, Argentina, and Italy. His warmth, wisdom, and enduring love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of calling him family.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Ottavio’s devoted personal caregivers, Ditas and Nonalyn, who provided unwavering support and compassion during his later years. Their dedication allowed Ottavio to experience comfort and care, surrounded by love until the end.
Ottavio’s love for life was reflected in his passion for gardening, nurturing the earth and creating a haven of beauty. His dedication to his garden was a testament to his nurturing spirit and appreciation for the simple joys of life. Ottavio’s love extended to the grape vines as well, playing a pivotal role in cofounding Terra Estate Winery, a testament to his commitment to nature, family and the traditions that bind them.
As we bid farewell to Ottavio, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. May his spirit continue to inspire and guide us, and may he find eternal peace in the arms of his beloved Luisa.
Visitations will take place at the DeMarco Funeral Home (Woodbridge Chapel) (8003 Weston Road, Woodbridge, Ontario, Tel-905-850-9500) on Thursday January 4th, 2023 from 4-9pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated the following day on Friday January 5th, 2023 at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church (100 Bainbridge Avenue, Woodbridge, Ontario) at 11am. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Catholic cemetery (8361 Yonge Street, Thornhill, Ontario).
If so desired, donations on behalf of the Marchi family may be made out to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
