Omer Lebel Obituary
Omer passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side at Chapman House in Owen Sound on August 13, 2024. Born in Corbeil, Ontario on June 10, 1938, Joseph Omer Lebel was in his 87th year.
Beloved husband of the late Jeannine Lebel of Owen Sound. His memory will be cherished by his loving daughters Debbie Cochrane (Rod Clarke) of Owen Sound, Kim Johnson (Barry) of Owen Sound and Tammy Forwell (Derek) of London. Cherished Grandpa of Drake, Riley and Amber.
Omer is survived by his siblings Lionel, Carmelle, and Ron. Predeceased by his parents Gerard and Cecile (nee Gravelle) Lebel, and siblings Joseph, Anita, Norm, Raymond, Louis, Marie, Germaine, and Maurice. He was loved by many nieces and nephews.
He was a man of few words and a jack of all trades, primarily carpentry and sheet metal. Omer continuously upcycled, and no material ever went to waste. He loved to keep busy with a multitude of projects for family and friends, taking pride in all his work and home. He built everything to last, much like his memory of being a loving, patient and generous man.
The family expresses heartfelt thanks to all the amazing and compassionate staff and volunteers of Grey Bruce Hospice – Chapman House for all their above and beyond care during his stay there.
In keeping with Omer’s wishes, cremation is taking place and a private graveside service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492.
