Norman Throop, of
Sackville, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2023, at the Victoria
General Hospital in Halifax at the age of 80. He was the son of the
late Howard and Hedwidge (Landry) Throop.

Formerly employed by Lounsbury’s, Norman
was a car and truck mechanic for over 25 years. Later in life, he
worked as a truck driver for Beale and Inch. His talents for repairing
almost anything were appreciated by his family, especially his
daughters, who he was always ready to jump in and help with projects
big and small. Norman enjoyed traveling and being outside. A lifelong
camper and snowmobiler, he worked for several years grooming
snowmobile trails throughout the province. A self-taught guitar
player, he loved getting together to play music with friends and
family around a campsite and a kitchen table as much as he did with a
band. Always quick to tell a story or a joke, Norman will be
remembered as being someone who could and would talk to pretty much
anyone. He was an anchor to his family with a generous heart, always
working hard for those he loved.

Norman will be forever missed by his wife of 54
years Joyce (Barnes), daughters Jocelyn (Michael) and Jennifer;
grandchildren Joshua, Jessica, Jack, and Jacob; sisters Jeannette
(John) Strang, Rosella Nadeau, and Roberta Collins; sister-in-law
Margaret Clare and his many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by
his daughter Joanne Jones, brothers Roger and Ludger, and sisters
Evangeline Lirette and Delia Bates.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of
Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street,
Sackville (506-364-1300). Honouring Norman’s wishes,
cremation has taken place. A graveside service will he
held at the Westcock Cemetery on Friday, June 30, 2023 at 1 pm with a
reception and time of fellowship to follow at St. Ann’s Church Hall in
Westcock. All are
invited to attend.
