Obituary
HEMEON, Nora Madeline (Thompson), age 89, of Pleasant Point passed away March 16, 2024 at Shelburne Roseway Hospital. Born in East Sable River, she was the daughter of the late Aretta (Belong) and Sydney Thompson.
She was married to her loving husband Edward (Ted) Day Hemeon, for 51 years, before he passed away in 2007. They had 3 children Deborah (Rodney) Nickerson, Vonda (Gary) Thompson and Edward “Teddy” (Karis). They had 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and a great-great grandbaby due September 2024. Sister; Helen (Edwin) Smith of Halifax, Brother; Williams “Bill” (Sandra) Thompson, Port L’Herbert. She was predeceased by her siblings; Stella, Burns, Hilda, Hazel, Jermone, Anne and Phyllis.
At a young age Nora moved to Halifax with her sisters to work. She came back home to become a housekeeper. While working in Pleasant Point, she met the love of her life walking down the hill, towards the shore and always said “that’s the man for me”. It was love at first sight. She married him and took pride in being a wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to bake, cook and make sure no one went hungry. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne. Cremation has taken place, as per Nora’s request. Friends and family graveside service will be held at Little Harbour Cemetery on Friday March 22, 2024 at 2pm, with a reception to follow the service at Sable River Community Hall. Family flowers only by request. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Surf Lodge Nursing home, Lockeport. Special thanks to Surf Lodge and Roseway Hospital for all their support.
