Nikkita Kaiswatum of Regina, Saskatchewan passed away due to complications of Type I Diabetes and Kidney Disease on Sunday, January 29, 2024, at 31 years.
Nikkita was predeceased by paternal grandparents George and Louise (Kaiswatum) Desjarlais; and maternal grandparents Allan and Edna (Lee) Bell. Nikkita is survived by fiancé Bailey McIvor of Regina; father Steven Kaiswatum of Regina; mother Ruth Kaiswatum of Regina; siblings Deanna Kaiswatum (and her five children) of Regina, Selena Kaiswatum (and her two children) of Regina, Vanessa Kaiswatum (and her seven children) of Regina, Joseph (Angie Cyr) Kaiswatum (and his son and three step-children) of Carlyle, Stephanie (Martin) Piktel (and their son) of Edmonton, Fallan Kaiswatum (and her three children, Gavin, Marley, and Emily) of Regina, and Cecilia (Tyrone Francis) Kaiswatum of Regina; close friends Braydon Spence, Kayla Flamont, Benn Gagnon, and Charlie Jane; numerous cousins and friends; and four fur babies Prowler, Grimm, Morty, and Nugget.
Nikkita was an excellent cook and spent many years working at The Lobby Kitchen and Bar. They were very creative; painting, beading, and crafting jewelry in their spare time. For several years, hooping was one of Nikkita’s passions, and another was growing their own vegetables. A big portion of Nikkita’s life was devoted to vegetarianism. They loved pets and usually owned at least one cat, typically orange, as well as other cats, dogs, and ferrets.
Nikkita somehow found the time to spend with family members and friends. Nik’s quick wit, crazy sense of humour, and infectious laugh were always welcome. Camping and musical festivals were events important to Nikkita in socializing with their friends. After some time of being friends, Bailey McIvor and Nikkita became a couple, then engaged, and were to be married this upcoming spring. However, it was not to be. Although Nikkita put up a long, fierce, courageous fight to stay in this world, they were taken from us far too soon.
Visitation will take place at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, on Thursday, February 1, 2024, from 2:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m. Traditional wake will be held at Piapot Band Hall, Piapot First Nation on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Service and Celebration of Nikkita’s life will be held at Piapot Band Hall, Piapot First Nation, on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Robert Obey will officiate.
At the family’s request, no children under the age of 10 are to attend. This is a substance free service, so we request no one be under the influence and any smoking can be done outdoors. Cremation to take place on Saturday, February 3, 2024.
