Nico Blankers, of Hanover, passed away peacefully at Chapman House Residential Hospice in Owen Sound on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at the age of 60. Married for 34 years with his beloved wife Petra. Proud father of Lyan and Kristy. He will be missed by all his siblings, especially his sister Riet (Kees).
Predeceased by his dad Gijs Blankers and his mom Ruth Mouthaan and his step mother Bets Blankers-Koene. Also missed by his mother in law Bets Jasperse and Petra’s siblings and predeceased by his father in law David Jasperse.
He and his family came to Canada in 2003 where they farmed cash crop and hogs in the Guelph area. In 2009 they moved to Hanover where they bought a dairy goat farm. He was involved in the dairy goat industry through being a member of the Ontario Dairy Goat Co-Op. He is proud to have Petra , Lyan and Kristy remain on the farm to continue his dreams. Thank you to the members of Crawford United Church for their ongoing support in the last 5 years and to all the friends standing around us. Special thanks to Dr. Sanatani and Julie Garnett from London Regional Cancer Program and also to Heather Barrett our wonderful Nurse Practitioner for all their compassionate care.
To honour his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on December 29 at Lamlash Hall in Bentinck Township from 11-3pm.
A private family inurnment will be held in Durham Cemetery.
Memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.
