April 16, 1933 – April 9, 2023
Born on Easter Sunday, Roy H. Newton passed on Easter Sunday at home surrounded by family, just shy of his 90th Birthday.
He was the beloved husband of the late Ruth (nee Cooke) and devoted, loving Dad to Karen (Glenn), Brian (Lise) and Robert (Heidi). He was the very proud Grandfather of Katie, Francis, Andrew, Stefanie, Sofie and Gramps to Melanie, Jennifer and Great Gramps to Ben. Predeceased by his parents Henry and Winnifred Newton and his dear brother Ron (Marg) and sister Peggy and his brother- in- law John.
Starting as a salesman for a flour company, over the years, Roy’s superb salesmanship, creativity and business acumen earned him a position as a Senior Vice-President of a large multinational company.
Always his greatest priority and joy was his family, and all their pets, no matter where they travelled and lived. The family was raised primarily in Thornhill with memorable periods in Halifax and Vancouver. Family gatherings celebrating special events, occasions or just being together were the cornerstone of his life. Many of these happened at the family Cottage, “Rocky Pines”. It was a very special place for Roy. Family, friends, and of course the dogs – especially his loving, faithful dog Beau, would gather for long lazy afternoons on the dock, followed by hours at the dinner table enjoying great meals, stories, conversations and laughter. It was truly his happy place.
A celebration of life will be held later in the spring.
