Neil Eugene
Jeffers, 82 years of age passed away on December 3,
2023 at home after a brief illness. Born in Springhill, he was
youngest son of the late Seymour and Lilly (Tingley)
Jeffers.
Neil joined the Air Force shortly after
completing grade 10 at Oxford High School. He was stationed throughout
Canada and the United States working with the NORAD command protecting
Canadian and US air space. His service took him from
Colorado, Florida and Missouri to Quebec, NB, Manitoba and finally
ending with a year in the Northwest Territories. During his time in
the military, Neil was admired for his amazing green thumb, including
his professional work on the golf course. He enjoyed long walks,
curling, playing darts and cards with friends to pass the time. Neil
retired from the Air Force after 25 years of service in 1982 and
returned to the home he loved most. At the heart, Neil was most happy
on his farm surrounded by his animals such as his horses and his dogs.
There were often a few stories of misadventures told with a slight
grin.
He will be sadly missed by his daughter
Amy, stepdaughter Patricia, five grandchildren, brother Arnold, sister
Ruth Halliday, numerous nieces, and nephews as well as his many
neighbors.
Besides his parents, Neil was
predeceased by his sister Francis, brother Hugh and former wife Joan
(Kay) Driver.
Arrangements are under the care and
guidance of W. Allen Funeral Home, 60 Water Street, Oxford, NS,
(902-447-2167) Burial to take place in the Pine Grove Cemetery,
Oxford, N.S. with a graveside service at a later
date.
