It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Natalie on February 10, 2023, in her 88th year.
Natalie was born in Sudbury, Ontario, to Stefania (née Kunka) and Michael Yanchyk. At a young age, her family moved to Toronto where she grew up. She gifted us with stories and adventures about her life, especially the cherished friendships from her childhood which remained deep-rooted into her eighties.
Natalie married Jack (John Stanley Zboch, d 2020) and they moved to Etobicoke to raise their family. They shared an unwavering love for each other, their four children and extended family for over 65 years. They loved when the family gathered and made beautiful meals together including pierogies and cabbage rolls to celebrate Nat’s Ukrainian and Jack’s Polish heritage.
Natalie was a loving homemaker and in later years, she worked as a bookkeeper. She excelled in math and finances. She loved connecting with others and always made people feel at ease. She treasured conversation (“chatty Nat”) and always had a good story to tell – with no details left out. She had an encyclopedic memory and a playful sense of humour.
Natalie was warm, generous, and compassionate. She embraced a positive outlook on life and was always thinking of others. She continued to make new friends and spark joy when she and Jack moved to Tansley Woods Retirement Home in 2019.
Natalie adored her family and is lovingly remembered by her four children: Wendy (Martin), Nancy, John, and Gail. Proud grandmother to Daryl (Michelle), Brandon (Alison), Stephanie, and Alison (Chris). Great-grandmother to Evan, Liam, and Alexandra.
Deeply missed by siblings Olivia and Walter (Betty), brother-in-law Chester (Lynda), and sister-in-law Connie. Predeceased by
sons-in-law Wyman and Al, and brothers-in-law Joe and Ted.
Natalie entered the hospital after suffering a stroke. She was brave and courageous, and showed extraordinary faith. She was embraced and supported by the love of her family who stayed by her side. Natalie shared her love with us up until her last moments.
Her legacy of love and kindness will live on.
Thank you to the compassionate ICU team at Joseph Brant Hospital.
A celebration of Natalie’s life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada are appreciated.
