It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother Nadine, aged 68, after a long battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, passing peacefully Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at the St. Catharines General Hospital, with her children by her side.
Loving mother to Liza Delaney (Kris Turner) and Bruce Esraelian (Cassandra).
The highlight of Nadine’s life was her grandchildren. She was the best Nan to Emma, Connor, and Ryan Delaney, and the proudest Nanny to Nolan Esraelian. Always cheering them on, never wanting to miss a moment.
Nadine is predeceased by her parents, James Shearer and Evelyn Shearer, as well as her newly found brother, Larry Thompson (Daria). A brother that she searched years for, and was overjoyed to find.
Nadine is survived by her brother, Kevin Shearer (Joanne).
The other joy in Nadine’s life was her pug Muffy, 13, whom she spoiled and doted on for 12 years. Nadine and Muffy made many friends over the years at the dog parks.
Nadine will be missed dearly by her many friends, too numerous to count.
Nadine spent her 26-year career as an RPN in Palliative Care in the Woolcott Wing of the Welland General Hospital, showing care and compassion to her patients, retiring in 2012.
Our mother generously volunteered during her retirement, finding every opportunity to help, at countless organizations. From knitting hats, to working the soup kitchen, to helping at the hospice, she gave her time and effort to anyone in need.
Nadine also gave generously to World Vision, an organization important to her. Proudly receiving numerous letters and photos throughout the years, from the recipients of her generosity.
An avid blood donor, our mother was proud to give generously, for decades, to the Canadian Red Cross, until her health prevented it.
Nadine was proud to be an organ donor, and qualifies to donate her eyes, bones, and connective tissue for transplant and research purposes.
Our family would like to thank the staff of the ICU Critical Care Unit at the St. Catharines General Hospital for their care and compassion during our mothers’ stay.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Passfield Mortuary Services Inc, and cremation will take place after the donation process is complete.
Family and friends will commemorate Nadine’s life at a Celebration of Life to take place in the Spring.
