WILSON, Myrtle Irene (née Graham)
Myrtle Irene Wilson passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s at Fleming on Monday, June 26, 2023. She was very grateful for the people who supported her during her 5-year battle with Alzheimer’s.
Loving Mother of Valerie Harrison (Myles) and Dale Wilson (Anne). Proud Grandmother of Myla Bromell (Jeff) and Brett Wilson. Thrilled GiGi of Hana Bromell. Loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her Husband, Ivan. Predeceased by her Parents, Leslie Graham and Catherine (née Brown) and her sister, Edith Taft and brother, Garnet Graham.
Myrtle was a kind, generous, loving lady who loved to help others. She volunteered for many organizations over the years including the Peterborough Humane Society, Thrift Store, Meals on Wheels, 4-H and the Horticulture Society. Myrtle loved all animals, especially cats. She cared for and found homes for many strays over the years. Myrtle was an avid gardener. Anyone who knew her would attest to her wonderful gardens and her dedication to them. Myrtle was also an amazing baker who made many types of cakes over the years, including wedding cakes and the «Leaning Tower of Pisa» that won an award. Anyone who has known Myrtle has had a slice of one of her fabulous cakes. Myrtle loved to play her organ. She also loved to do crafts and she spent many years creating a 4′ long Plastic Canvas Doll House that was fully furnished with Plastic Canvas furniture that she made to perfection!
Many thanks to the Staff at St. Joseph’s at Fleming, especially those in Woodlands and more recently, Hilltop who provided Myrtle with wonderful care. Also, special thanks to Nurse Practitioner Kathryn who oversaw Myrtle’s Medical Care. We are forever grateful to all of them for their exceptional care, kindness, and dedication to caring for others.
If desired, donations to the Alzheimer Society, Peterborough Branch who supported Myrtle’s family with education and kindness these last few years or the Peterborough Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.
A Celebration of Myrtle’s Life will be held at a later date.
