Peacefully at Victoria Hospital, London, Ontario, Murray Joseph Podebry of Lambeth in his 89th year.
Born Sept 14, 1936 in Windsor, Ontario, he was the first child of, and predeceased to Jean (2002) and Peter Podebry (1980). Loving and caring husband of 64 years, he is predeceased by his wife Elaine (2023)
Loving father to Mike and Elaine Podebry, and Karen and Mike Seez.
Predeceased by his sons Jamie (2002) and Mark (2022).
Loving brother to Walter and Anna Podebry. Proud grandfather of Lisa and Mike Novakowski, Kirsten and Gerry Maynard, Amy and Lee Chesworth, Ashley and Josh Bujaki, Brad and Kelly Andrews, Ryan Podebry and Nicole Seez. Great grandfather to Alyssa, Lachlan, Hadley, Hudson, Evelyn, Aubrey, Liam, Edie, Wesley and Livi. Loving father in law to Deanna McKechnie and Kim Podebry.
Loving brother in law to Bernadette and Leo Ducharme, Leona and Pat Donaghue and Lou Drouillard. Predeceased by his sister-in-law Jeanette Schram and brother-in-laws, Stan Drouillard and Richard Schram. He will be greatly missed by his family, nieces, nephews, step grand-children and step great-grandchildren, and many friends, especially the Allen and Rock, families.
While raising 4 children with his wife Elaine, Murray started his own business at a very young age, and continued to work it for over 60 years with his son Mike. He was an avid bowler and loved to golf back in the day. He travelled to many places with his wife over the years, but most of the time they enjoyed many winters together in their Florida home. Murray’s home of 60 years, in Lambeth, was his pride and joy. Awake at 4 AM most days, he was always puttering around with something. Especially his pool, where he loved to swim, and taught all 4 of his children how to swim as well. His hanging flower baskets and pots were put out every year with great pride.
Cremation has taken place. In Lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer society would be greatly appreciated. A celebration of life will follow at a later date.
