Murray Wilson Obituary
MURRAY DAVID WILSON
MAY 7, 1941 – OCT. 8, 2024
It is with heavy hearts and joyful memories that we share the news of the passing of our father, father in law, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. Dad passed away suddenly at Kingston General Hospital in his 84th year with all three of his children by his side. He is survived and missed by his kids, David Wilson, Cathy Dwyer, Tammy Davis and husband Ken Davis.
He was loved and known as “Grampa Murray” to Amanda Davis (Brad), Jaimie Nikolic (Jared), Jessica Dwyer (Ryan), Curtis Dwyer (Courtney) and Mackenzie Wilson. He was Great Grampa Murray to Bryson & Aubrey, Mila & Liam, James, Carter & Abbie. He was Uncle Murray to many nieces & nephews.
Murray hails from the small town of Douglas, Ontario and is missed and loved by his siblings Beverly McIvor (Eginald) of Kingston ON, Gary Wilson (Margery) of Renfrew ON, Glen Wilson (Betty – deceased) of Ottawa ON, Donna Hartwick (Don) of Eganville ON and Lynn Larcher (Danny) of Pembroke ON
Predeceased by his parents, Murray Sr. and Hazel (nee Rosemond) of Douglas ON, infant brother Donald Wilson, Brother Keith Wilson (Stan) of Ottawa ON, and son in law Rick Dwyer of Kingston ON
Murray is greatly missed by long-time friend Marlene Asselstine. Our dad is also fondly remembered as “happy, jovial, jolly & helpful” by his many friends and neighbors. He leaves behind his much loved cat, Jessie.
He was a man with a keen interest in trivia, history & heritage. He tied those interests to his love of music, especially the story telling song writers like John Prine, Kris Kristofferson and even Stompin’ Tom! Murray was happiest when at yard sales, antique and flea markets picking through the items looking for the beautiful, the historic and sometimes the obscure. Nothing brought a smile to his face more than picking up an object and pondering about it’s origin and purpose, and perhaps reselling it at a profit!. He was an artist and a humourist and tied those two elements together in his cartoons, illustrations and water colours.
A celebration of life for Murray will be held on Tuesday, October 29th at Crossroads United Church Hall, 600 Sir John A. Macdonald Blvd., Kingston ON from 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm. All are welcome.
Murray has been in the care of Limestone Cremation Services & Trousdale Funeral Home. We are taking dad home to Douglas ON for internment and a short service by Reverend Ingrid Condie-Benny at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 2nd. All are welcome.
“You will always be in our hearts, because there you will remain alive and well. When we think of you, every tear, every laugh, every shared memory will forever link us together.”
with love and affection, your kids.
Memorial donations in Murray’s name can be made to The Kingston Humane Society or The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
