MacLellan,
Murdock Joseph, age 86, of the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home and
formerly of Harbour Centre, Antigonish County, passed away on January
2, 2024, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital,
Antigonish.
Born in
Antigonish, he was a son of the late Ronald and Christine (Chisholm)
MacLellan.
Murdock moved
away at a young age to work. Though he enjoyed living away,
especially in Vancouver, he always felt connected to his home, and
came home whenever he could. He was a big sports fan,
especially horse racing and spent a lot of time at the
tracks. Murdock was an avid reader, a fountain of knowledge,
and a wonderful conversationalist. He loved his seafood but
none of that farm raised stuff!
He is
survived by his sisters Charlotte (Sandy) Campbell, Avon,
Massachusetts; and Josephine (David) MacLeod, Arlington,
Massachusetts; brother-in-law, Hugh MacLeod, Port Hawkesbury; and many
nieces, and nephews.
Predeceased
by his siblings, Mary Agnes MacLeod, Donald MacLellan, Joan (Donnie)
MacGillivray, and Florence (Jimmie) MacEachern. A special
thank you goes out to his neighbour Leo Cameron who was a true
neighbour and friend helping Murdock with everything and anything he
needed to stay in his home for as long as he could. Also to
his Dr’s and nurses at St. Marthas’s and
caregiver’s at the R.K. MacDonald Nursing
Home.
Cremation has
taken place, and visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to
9pm in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street,
Antigonish. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday in St. Ninian
Cathedral, Antigonish, at 1:30pm, with Reverend Donald MacGillivray
presiding. Burial in the parish
cemetery.
In lieu of
