It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Monica Oates (nee Edwards) on May 22nd, 2024, at Princess Margaret Cancer Center. Monica peacefully left this world surrounded by family and friends ending her courageous battle with leukemia.
Monica was born in North York, ON in 1973 and moved with her family to several different towns, finally settling in Orangeville with her own family.
She is survived by her daughter Sam, her former husband Quinton Oates, her parents Sadie and Richard Edwards and her brothers Jeff (Vida), Bob (Nadine) and Rick (Laura). She is lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews Chakka, Cole (Trisha), Tyrone (Jessica), Andrea (AJ) and Zachary (Haleigh) as well as her great nieces and nephews Brooke, Kaycee, Naomi, Jaxon, Bennett and Brynnli and many close friends.
Monica will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, her infectious laugh and her love of life. She lived life to the fullest in everything she did and inspired everyone else around her to do the same. She loved concerts and music of any kind and was always game for any new adventure. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Please join us in a celebration to honour Monica’s life on June 22nd from 1-4 pm at the Orangeville Fairgrounds Oak Room, 247090 Sideroad 5 Mono, ON L9W 6K5
In lieu of flowers we suggest donations to the Princess Margaret Cancer Center in Monica’s memory or to a fund to benefit Sam’s post secondary education.
A tree will be planted in memory of Monica in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. 22nd Annual Dedication Service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
