With heavy hearts the family of Monica Lisa Duncan announce her passing on November 13, 2024 at St. Paul Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Beloved Partner, Mother, Kokum, Sister, Auntie, Niece, Cousin and Friend.
Monica was born in Thompson Manitoba and raised in Thicket Portage by her grandparents Louis Sr and Mary Jane Bignell along with her siblings. After their passing she was raised by Louis Jr and Alice Bignell. She finished her schooling with frontier, shortly after she started her family life with Robert Sr (Bobby). They resided in Thicket where they raised their four children. In 2000 they moved to Thompson for new
career opportunities and their children’s education. There she work various jobs such as ECE work, Thompson hospital and KTC, before leaving her position due to health issues. After separating from Robert Sr she met Ivan Agecoutay, they lived together in Thompson before moving to Barrows Manitoba. This is where she spent her last years with Ivan and her grandchildren.
Monica loved spending time with her grandchildren and family when she wasn’t doing that she would donate some time to community events such as sports day events, elections…etc. Monica liked cards and her
favorite Bingo she socialized with friends, family and co workers she was never the person to turn away anyone when help was needed she loved to go hunting and visit her grandpa/dads camp. She was also hilarious, smart, sometimes blunt and a great cook.
Aaannnd that’s her story and she’s sticking to it!!!
Monica leaves to mourn her Partner: Ivan Agecoutay, Robert Chartier and their Children: Robert Chartier Jr , Allison Chartier (Darryl), Curtis Chartier (Kaytlyn), Dezarae Chartier( John Sr) Siblings: Robert Duncan Sr (Marie), Charles Duncan (Rosalie), Samantha Moore (Fredrick), Shane Bittern (Lacey) Godchildren: Megan Brown , Robynn Duncan, Christian Dorian, As well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, cousins and friends.
Monica was predeceased by her Mother: Maria Jane Bignell, Father: John Bittern, Grandparents: Louis Sr and Mary Jane Bignell, aunts: Stella Bignell, Alice Bignell, Lorraine Clemons, Mother in law: Joanne Chartier, Brother in law: Larry Chartier, Nephew: Robert Duncan Jr. (Knuckles), Cousins: Melanie Clemons, David Bignell
Wake Service held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 from 6:00—10:00pm at St. James Anglican Church in Thompson, Manitoba
Funeral Service held on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 1:00pm, with final viewing from 11:00am-1:00pm at St. James Anglican Church in Thompson, Manitoba officiated by Rev. Jean Arthurson
