Obituary
Passed peacefully away at Placentia Hospital after an extraordinary battle with cancer on Saturday, July 6th, 2024, Mona Louise Legge (Higdon) of Whiteway, aged 73 years.
Predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Basil Ernest; daughters, Tammy Louise and Kelly-Lynn Joyce (Sooley); parents, Albert Higdon and Annie (Parsons) of New Harbour; parents-in-law, William (Bill) Legge and Myrtice (Harnum) of Whiteway
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her sons, BJ (Lisa) and Jason (Mitzi); grandchildren, Dwayne, Brian, Madison, Liam, Noah and Grace; sister, Joyce (Reg); sisters-in-law Eva (Bob) and Margaret (Gordon); brother-in-law, Aubrey (Judy pre-deceased); special friends Elaine Reid and Emily Higdon; as well as a large circle of extended family and close friends.
Mona was an inspiration to many with her strength to face life’s challenges. Many times throughout her battle with cancer, others may have given up, but she battled and fought her way back to live at her beloved home in Whiteway.
She was a friend to many and will be dearly missed.
Many thanks to the nurses at Placentia Hospital for their kindness during this difficult time. Special thanks to Mona’s home care worker, Cindy Jackson, who went above and beyond her role many times in the past few years. Many thanks to all the home care workers who assisted Mona to enable her to stay at her home in Whiteway.
Thanks to all who contributed in any way, not just in the last weeks, but over the years Mona battled cancer, as well as the many visits, calls, and messages of support.
Cremation to take place.
A private family service will be held at a later date as per Mona’s wishes.
