Obituary of Molly Wengrowich
Mary «Molly» Wengrowich (nee Pietrucha) passed away peacefully in Kelowna, BC, on March 24th, 2024, at the age of 91. In her final days, she was visited by numerous family and friends from near and far. Molly was born on September 2nd, 1932, to Lucas «Roy» Pietrucha and Kataryna (nee Stanicki) on her family farm in Saskatchewan. When her mother passed away in 1947, Molly, being the oldest daughter, took responsibility for her younger siblings at the young age of 15. Molly married Peter Wengrowich in 1952, and had four sons and two daughters while farming near Ituna, Saskatchewan. The two eventually moved their family to Kelowna in 1973, adding one more daughter. Molly is survived by her children Walter (Carol), Connie Moroshkin (Ron) Mark (Marcel), Diane (Evelyn), James, Jennifer Mark (Roland); grandchildren Matthew (Sven), Natasha (Liam), Alicia (Tom), Shane (Breanne), Nick (Kelsey), Kelsea (Geoff), Kathleen (Julie), Christopher, Stephanie (Jeremy), Lucas, and Skyler; great-grandchildren Frederick and William; sisters Angie, Olga Majola (Walter), Jean, Josie, Cathy, Rose Rogers (Tom), Tonie; sister-in-law Lillian; and numerous relatives on both sides of the Pietrucha and Wengrowich families. She was predeceased by her husband Peter; brothers John, Stanley, Andrew (in childbirth), Phillip, Mike, and Steve; and son Kenneth. Molly’s love and generosity knew no bounds. She was always there for her family and friends, with a loving heart and an open mind, and always had room at her dinner table. Her thirteen grandchildren and great-grandchildren adored her and saw in her a model of character, generosity, and affection that they strived to emulate. A memorial to honour Molly’s life will be held at Everden Rust Funeral Home, at 1910 Windsor Road, Kelowna, BC on April 19th at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, where Molly will be laid to rest beside her husband, Peter. The family would like to thank the staff at the Central Okanagan Hospice House for their kindness and care.
