We are heartbroken to announce the peaceful passing of our ‘Big Moe’ on Sunday, February 18, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Beloved ‘Pussycat’ and soulmate to the late Barbara Harris for sixty-five years. Devoted and exceptional father and father-in-law of Bruce Yoffe and Illeana Edelstein, Dr. Norman Yoffe and Kimberley Ratte, Linda Yoffe, Sandra Yoffe and Johnny Shaikin of Los Angeles. Proud and adored Grandpa of Ryan Yoffe and Brittney Hoffman of Denver, Evan Yoffe, Arianna Yoffe and fiancé Sammy Fagen; Sean Yoffe and Audrey Levy; Sam Shaikin of Chicago, and Leah Shaikin of Denver. Cherished great-grandfather of Ledger and Piper Yoffe of Denver. Son of the late Helen Nadel and the late Zelig Yoffe. Dear brother-in-law and brother of Peter and the late Eleanor Brotman of Toronto; and brother-in-law of Dr. Gordon and Dr. Phyllis Harris of San Diego, the late Rhoda and the late Edward Lazare of Toronto. Moe will be fondly remembered by his many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
The family would like to thank the Emergency and Orthopedic departments at the Montreal General Hospital for their professionalism and expert treatment. Heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Waldorf Residence for the love and care they showed over the last three years. Special thanks to Dad’s wonderful caregiver, Sarah, for her compassion and calming spirit. The family would also like to sincerely thank their extended family and amazing friends and colleagues who have shown them much love and support over the last few difficult weeks.
Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Friday, February 23 at 12:00 p.m. Burial at the Dorshei Emet Reconstructionist Congregation Section, Eternal Gardens Cemetery, Beaconsfield. Dad was the patriarch and rock of our family. We always knew that whatever circumstance would occur, Dad would make it all work out. In stature, he was a large and imposing man, but underneath that exterior was a man who had a heart of gold. His words may have been few, but when spoken, were given with wisdom, insight, and compassion. He was so proud of his family and all their accomplishments. But for now, we take comfort in knowing that Dad will take his well-earned rest alongside his beloved Barbara sitting together, holding hands, on their deck looking at Grand Lac Long for eternity.
