Dawe, Minnie Alecia, 95, of Ingersoll passed away peacefully at home on May 17, 2023 with family by her side.
She was born to parents Emma Pearl and Hector Parsons on Feb 12, 1928 in St John’s Newfoundland. She married the late Lloyd Dawe in 1952, each fostering the other’s interests and talents while raising a family for 56 years before Lloyd’s passing in 2008.
Minnie was immensely proud and joyful of her family who are grateful for her limitless nurturing and inspirational example – always a compassionate ear to lend filling our hearts with her loving positive happy glow. Survived by her three children: Alan, Brian (Sandra) and Marina. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Derek, Sara, Connie (Matt), Rebecca and Jennifer and great-grandchild Zoe.
Minnie so loved her siblings, reminiscing with them all the years growing up together in St John’s. Survived by her sisters Shirley (Jim), Marina (Herbert, deceased), Patricia (David), Carol (David, deceased) and her brother Winston (Kay). She was predeceased by her brother and best friend Hector and her sisters Theresa, Lorraine, Roberta, and Pamela.
A citizen of her community and the world, Minnie served on the CNIB Advisory Board for Oxford County in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. In 1975, she passed the Amateur Radio License exam receiving her call VE3 DBQ becoming an active member for the rest of her life and making many cherished friendships from around the world. Over the years, she received many awards and served as president of the Canadian Ladies Amateur Radio Association (CLARA) for the years 1999-2000. An accomplished knitter, Minnie kept her family and friends warm with her many beautiful creations. We were so blessed to have the joyful memories of our dear Mom who inspired us to always rise above life’s challenges as she so gracefully did. She was our guiding light and will be forever in our hearts.
Special thanks to Annie, Ruby, Heather, Joanna and family, and Rosemary for their help and understanding ways.
Friends and family are invited to pay respects and celebrate her life at a visitation to be held at First Baptist Church, 235 Thames Street South, Ingersoll, ON, on May 25th between 10 and 11 am. Service will follow at 11 am followed by a lunch in the fellowship hall. The burial will be held following the lunch at the Ingersoll Rural Cemetery when both her and her beloved husband’s ashes will be interred.
In Leu of flowers, Minnie would like donations sent to the CNIB or St James Anglican Church Building Fund. Personal condolences may be sent at www.mcbeathdynes.ca
