With great sadness, the family ofMilton Clinton Eugene Cooper announce his peaceful passing on January 6, 2024 at Trillium Health Hospital.
Milt was born at home on August 19, 1931 in Carman, Manitoba, to Arthur and Leila (Copeland), and lived there with his parents and three sisters, Grace, Enid and Selma, until the family moved to Winnipeg in 1943.
Milt lived a full and happy life, thanks in large part to his wife Eva (née Gabriel) who, he was fond of claiming, only married him for his car. When Eva died, shortly after they celebrated their 60th anniversary together, Milt never really recovered.
Milt leaves behind his children Patricia (David) and Arthur (Marcia) and grandchildren Geoffrey (Keira), Quinn and Gillian Sculthorpe, Nathaniel and Fynnian Cooper.
Milton was proud of his long career in advertising at Household Finance and of his term as President of the Association of Canadian Advertisers. A natural athlete, he was a star pitcher in his youth, and later a wily and exceptional tennis player and avid golfer. He was an active member at the TLTC for almost 50 years.
Although generally reserved, he loved a party and a good joke. He had an infectious laugh and a special grin. He was hardworking, meticulously organized, loyal, honest, and steadfast in his beliefs and opinions. He was a reluctant public speaker but an impressive wordsmith. His favourite time of year was Christmas, when his usual frugality took a back seat to finding the perfect gift (and wrapping it with surgical care) for everyone he loved. Most of all, he was a committed family man and a steadfast friend. He will be missed.
