at the age of 38 years:
It is with profound sadness that we share the sudden and tragic passing of Wesley, who left us far too soon — on December 10th in a canoeing accident in Enderby, British Columbia. At just 38 years old, Wes lived a vibrant and unforgettable life, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughs, creativity, and adventure.
Wes was a true original. He poured his heart into everything he did. He was an artist in every sense of the word. He painted and drew the way some people breathe—effortlessly, beautifully. He loved music, nature, and living life on the edge, whether it was through extreme sports or just the everyday mischief that seemed to follow him around like a shadow. He lived life boldly and fully, finding beauty in the world around him and humor in every corner.
Above all, he was a loving father. Nothing brought him greater happiness than the time he spent with his two children, Jade (12) and Faryn (10). They were his greatest joy and he felt like the luckiest man on earth when he was with them. His love for them was limitless.
Wes was a bright light in the lives of all who knew him. His boldness, humor, and immense heart left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to call him a friend, a son, a brother, or a dad. His absence will leave an irreplaceable void, but the memories he gave us will remain forever. He was the kind of person who could drive you crazy one second and have you laughing until your drink came out your nose the next. He loved his family, his friends, his dogs, and pretty much anyone who crossed his path. He had a knack for making people feel seen, even in their messiest, most broken moments, because he knew what it felt like to live with a big messy heart.
He lives on through his children, Jade and Faryn; his parents, Albert and Alice; his sister, Teri; and a large circle of friends and extended family who loved him deeply and unconditionally.
In honor of Wesley and his love for his children, and in lieu of flowers, a trust is being established by their grandparents for their future. For those who wish to contribute, donations can be made via e-transfer to amillis@interbaun.com, or by reaching out to Wesley’s parents directly.
A small ceremony to honour Wesley will be held with immediate family and a few lifelong friends in the coming weeks. A larger celebration of life will be held in the spring/summer of 2025 in Whitehorse, with details to come.
