Mildred O’Brien passed away on May 14, 2024, in her 93rd year. She was born in Toronto, Ontario, and is pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Edward (2022), parents, Anna and George Hutter, and younger sister Audrey (2024).
She is survived by her brother George Hutter of Oakville.
Mildred will be dearly missed by her children Joseph (Patricia), Patrick (Alison), Joan (Greg) Marshall, Thomas (Arlene), and Sharon (Neil) Viveiros and her grandchildren: John O’Brien, Matthew O’Brien, Donald Marshall, Brian Marshall, Thomas Marshall, Sean Lethbridge, Sarah Viveiros, Princess Sy, Amy Wettlaufer, Terri Tebby, Katie O’Brien, and Jessica O’Brien. Great-grandmother of Emma, Jack, Liam, Beau, Peyton, Sophia, Gabriel, Ryan, Lilly and Rose.
Mildred was a very healthy, active woman until her decline only two years ago. The majority of her days were spent caring for others: her husband, her five children, her grandchildren and her mother Anna. Mildred had a strong faith and worked tirelessly at St. John Fisher Church in Bramalea as a CWL president and minister of Communion. She was also admired and respected for her strong organizational and managerial skills at Ontario Flower Growers. (1972-1985).
Love of the outdoors, walking and swimming were evident throughout Mildred’s life. She and her husband enjoyed travels to the islands with dear friends and visits to the casino during their last active years.
After a full year of grieving for her beloved husband, Mildred moved from Heritage Glen (Chartwell) in Mississauga to Fairview Mennonite LTC in Cambridge. She was loved and cared for deeply by the staff, who also assisted the family during her end-of-life care. We, her children, will be eternally grateful for their kindness and guidance.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 21, at 10 am, at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, in Cambridge (53 Wellington St.) and cremation will take place afterwards. Family and close friends are welcome to a reception at Corbett Funeral Home (95 Dundas St. N.) following the mass.
