Mildred ‘Millie’ Anderson
September 27, 1940 – October 8, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we, the family of Mildred “Millie” Anderson, announce her sudden, but peaceful passing on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Millie was born and raised in Burgeo, NFLD, where she and Victor married on December 17, 1958. Shortly after, they moved and settled down in Louisbourg to build a life and start a family.
Until her retirement, Millie worked with the Fortress of Louisbourg Volunteer Association as a cook. She was a natural homemaker and caregiver, so this role was one she loved and was naturally talented. During her time there she even had the chance to cook a meal for Queen Elizabeth II when she visited the Fortress.
Millie was also a cherished and dedicated member of the United Church Women, a role she took great pride in. She loved to cook, bake, and knit, which were her most cherished talents.
Millie was dedicated to her family, a true caregiver. Her world revolved around her family and everything she did, she did for the best interest of those closest to her. She was a selfless person and a true earth angel. Millie always made sure you were welcomed and never left hungry. She was a proud mother and grandmother to all of her children and grandchildren and never missed a chance to make it known. Her warmth and unwavering love for her family will be very deeply missed by us all.
Millie is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Victor; daughters, Janet and Piney (Mike); grandchildren, Erin, Mitchell, Danielle (Gregory), Nicole and Thomas; and great-grandson, Emmett. Millie also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and in-laws, Millie was predeceased by her daughter, Vicki Anderson; sisters, Hilda Koss and Piney Carter; brothers, Gilbert and Phillip Anderson; and sister-in-law, Eileen Anderson.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Sydney Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be held in First United Church, Louisbourg on Saturday, October 12th from 4:30- 5:30 p.m. followed by a service at 5:30 p.m. with Rev. Emily Duggan officiating. A reception will be held in Calvin Memorial Hall. Private family interment will take place in Willow Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First United Church in Louisbourg.
