Mildred Frances (Kavanagh) Dooley of Carbonear passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving daughters, at Carbonear General Hospital on Friday, March 8th, 2024.
Predeceased by her loving husband, William; Parents: Frances & Hazel Kavanagh; Brothers: Jack, Maurice, Albert, Frank, Harry, William, & Dennis; Sisters: Elizabeth, Jessie, Ann, Margaret & Stella
Leaving to mourn, daughters: Denise (Gord), Kim (Charles), & Stephanie (Amy). Grandchildren: Damon, Sydney, & Spencer; many brothers & sisters-In-Law: nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
We will remember Mildred for her kindness, unwavering loyalty, grace, strength, never ending support, and her dedication to her daughters and her family. She had a creative flair, loved to knit sweaters, sew and make dresses for her girls as they grew up, often remaking her own gowns into three little dresses! Mildred proudly made patchwork quilts. Each meticulous quilt was made with care, love, and attention to detail. She delighted in gifting her beautiful quilts to her family. We will cherish each one, and will continue to be wrapped in her love and care when we reach for her lovely quilts. Mildred also adored her plants, nurturing orchids and African violets so her home often had blooms that she could admire. She shared this love of plants and flowers with her daughters. Mildred also had an incredibly wicked sense of humour, and kept us all on our toes with quick wit. She loved her years working in real estate, and her strong work ethic was evident in everything she did. She loved the blue jays that called for their peanuts, the bees that pollinated her flowers, an occasional pooch, and all the cats she had, and those of her daughters.
Mildred had a unique relationship with each of her daughters, and her grandchildren. She cherished each of them, and she offered them a wonderful example of how to carry oneself through the day to day. She was adored, and will be missed fiercely by her family. We will forever hold her in our hearts.
Mildred’s daughters would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Rorke, Dr. House, and the nurses on the 7th floor who helped care for Mildred during her stay.
