Michelle Baker Obituary
It is with broken hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend, Michelle Joan Baker. Michelle was surrounded by devoted family in her home in Broad Cove where she truly loved being. Michelle passed on her 70th birthday, February 19, 2023. Predeceased by her parents: Roy Maxwell Kenneth Baker and Emmeline Joan Grace (nee Bradbury/ Baker).
Leaving with endless memories and laughter are her cherished daughters Christina (Perry) Parsons and Nancy Murphy (Saad Samuel); long-time friend, her “other” daughter, Dee Rose; precious and adored grandchildren: Nicholas and Emma Murphy; beloved brother Stephen (Patricia) Baker (the entire clan which she had so much love for); special cousin who was Michelle’s best friend, partner in crime and confidant Valerie (Butch) Goodyear; her very special dog Cali; many cousins who she had a very close family/friend relationship with; Harley Friends, extended family and a large circle of friends that she continued to share and make so many memories with (crib challenges, road trips, fishing, Harley rides, baking, etc). All your continued love and support was felt and will be treasured forever.
Born and raised in Grand Falls, Michelle was surrounded by a large family enjoying the cabin life in Point Leamington. In 1988, Michelle moved with her 2 daughters to Mount Pearl where she built a home for her family while continuing to be very active in the community and sports. As her children got older, Michelle looked forward to enjoying her retirement years in Broad Cove, by the ocean.
Michelle was always the life of the party! Her laughter, jokes and sense of humor were contagious. She loved life to the fullest. She loved the outdoors, ski doing, hunting, fishing, skiing, swimming, scuba diving, and most of all, riding the Harley with her “Harley Friends”. Michelle loved being in her garden and feeding the animals next door and enjoyed her time spent with “The Farmer”. One of Michelle proudest moments was curling at The Scott Tournament of Hearts in February 2001.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Cancer Clinic, Dr Thava, her dearest friends, and The Boys from Broad Cove, for your compassion and support. At Michelle’s request, cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023 from 1200 – 2:00 pm at Barrett’s Funeral Home, Mount Pearl. Funeral begins 3:00 pm at Parish of the Ascension, Mount Pearl.
