Michelle Amanda Marie Toupin was born on August 3, 1951 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, where she lived for the first 11 years of her life. She was the first of 6 children born to Leo and Amanda Toupin.
In early 1963, Michelle and her family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada – the city her family immigrated to when they moved from Canada in March of that year. In 1967 her family moved to Jeffersonville, Indiana where she attended Providence High School and later Jeffersonville High School. Michelle later attended Indian University and earned her undergraduate degree in Nursing in 1973. During her career as a Registered Nurse, Michelle worked as a Surgical Tech, a Trauma Nurse and a Specialty Nurse until her retirement from Nursing in 1989. Later, while living in Canada, she worked as a consultant at the Ottawa General Hospital.
In 1994, Michelle moved back to Canada, initially to Toronto and then Ottawa, Ontario, where she lived until her death. While in Ottawa, she made many friends at the housing community where she lived. She became well known for her selfless devotion to her neighbors by way of numerous acts of kindness. An avid gardener, Michelle soon gained a reputation for the tireless work she undertook to improve the surroundings at her community. She planted and cultivated numerous trees, flowers and bushes in her neighborhood as well as a beautiful garden adjacent to her apartment.
Michelle gave birth to three children – Amy, Renee and Johnathan, whom she deeply loved. Her eldest child, Amy, was born when Michelle was only 18. Initially giving up Amy for adoption, she was joyfully reunited with her in 2016. Michelle had seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Michelle passed into eternity to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 8, 2023.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leopold Roland Toupin and her mother, Amanda Marie Toupin. She is survived by her three children, her seven grandchildren and her great grandchild.
