Peacefully passed away at Health Sciences North Sudbury on Thursday February 9th, 2023 at the age of 66 years. Gone far too soon. Devoted husband of 25 years to his love and partner, Evelyn. Loving father and friend to Adam Legault (Lina), Derrick MacDonald (Gigi) and Tanya Lovsin (Michael). Cherished Poppa to Benjamin Lovsin, Sarah Lovsin (Collin), Julia Lovsin, Ty MacDonald, Vanessa Gladu (Justin), Ryan Gladu, and his upcoming grand-daughter Scarlett. Dear son of Gilberte (Serre) and Louis Legault (both predeceased). Dear brother of Collette Marroccoli (predeceased) (Luigi). Dear brother-in-law to Mary Spina (Luigi) and Amy & Stuart Milligan. Dear uncle to Tonia Marroccoli (Patrick), Cassandra Mazzonetto (Paolo), and Bianca Marroccoli. Great Uncle of Zeppelin Mazzonetto. Special friend and ‘Dat’ to Ben, Renee, Chase, Samantha and Wyatt Grimes.
Mike was a man who loved and is loved beyond measure, with his family always the focus. His favorite times were spent travelling with the love of his life. Whether it was a day trip into the mountains or a vacation to Hawaii, the time spent with is love was priceless to him. He also loved decorating for Christmas and was so proud of his Dickens village. But most of all he loved and cherished the times spent at Clear Lake with family and friends. He was always so proud of his children’s’ and grandchildren’s’ accomplishments, the big and the seemingly small. They were important to him. Although he lived a country away for so long, he always had time for his family and made sure that his loved ones always felt seen, heard and above all, loved. Clear Lake was his touch-stone, the connection between past generations and the present. A place where he easily shared memories of the past and built new memories with his love, his children and his grandchildren. Clear Lake would ultimately become home during his retirement.
Mike was a proud professional Engineer, graduating from U of T. He embarked on a career at INCO before moving to the US working as a consulting Engineer. During his career Mike developed a network of colleagues and neighbours who quickly became his enduring friends.
The family of Michel will be receiving visitors at McGuinty Funeral Home (123 Railway Street, Sturgeon Falls) on February 13th, 2023 between the hours of 11am to 2pm followed by a service in the McGuinty Funeral Home Chapel (Sturgeon Falls) at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Mike’s name to Pet Save Sudbury or Small Things Cat Adoption Team Sudbury. He had an immense love for animals big and small.
