Michael Marchak Obituary
Michael Marchak, 98 years of age born May 20, 1926, passed away peacefully in his sleep June 12, 2024. He started his education at Bay Centre and later attended Dickson school.
Mike was the eldest son of William and Anastasia Marchak. He had four brothers and one sister. Being the oldest it was expected that he would help his mother who was widowed young. He had a love of reading, subscribed to popular mechanics as a teen and devoured all its contents. He was a skilled mechanic not only for his own farm equipment and vehicles, but the neighbours also depended on him. He was a real handyman, a jack of all trades.
In 1956 he married the girl next door Florence Kutcher. They lived on the Marchak family farm until 1974, then they moved into Dauphin and Mike worked as a mechanic at Martin Motors until retirement.
Mike had many interests. He fulfilled his boyhood dreams of becoming a pilot. He and Florence flew from coast to coast in Canada, many trips up north and adventures frying across the US and Central America.
He was a reader, and he had an interest in reading the Bible and later became active as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in the Dauphin Congregation. He loved to share what he learned with others.
Mike was the father of two daughters, Sherry (Alan) McWhirter and Connie Cumming.
Four Grandchildren, Candice Taylor-Cameron (Jon), Jodie Campbell (David), Micheal Campbell (Lesa), Landon Korney (Tina).
Four great Grandchildren, Nolan Campbell, Clare Campbell, Cameron Taylor, and Ayla Taylor.
Family was especially important to him, he loved riding his bike along side the great grandchildren. When bicycle riding was a little difficult, he loved to drive his riding lawnmower and did so right up till a couple of days prior to his passing.
A Funeral Service will be held for Michael on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 3:30 pm from the Sneath-Strilchuk Family Care Centre in Dauphin with David L’Heureux officiating.
