Mexicana Mae Briggs: May 1st, 1941- April 13th,
2023
It is with great sadness that the family of Mexicana
Mae Briggs announces her sudden passing on Thursday, April
13th 2023 in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Born in Miramichi,
New Brunswick, on May 1st, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Jane
Connors.
Mexie is survived by her loving daughters Sherry
Lahaie (Denis), of Fredericton NB., and Katherine Ingalls (Larry), of
St. George, NB. Three beloved granddaughters, Victoria Erving
(Andrew), Erica Ingalls, and Monique Appleby (Tyler), and three great
grandchildren: Lucellia, Sophie, and Seth. Mexie was predeceased by
her husband Robert Briggs, and her mother Jane
Connors.
Mexie spent more than twenty-five of her last working
years at Medicare New Brunswick prior to retiring and taking care of
her dear mother, Jane. In her spare time she enjoyed walking,
knitting, playing cards, cooking and entertaining, being in her
garden, and enjoying a nice cup of tea with a sweet treat or two.
Mexie’s girls were her pride and joy, as were her granddaughters and
new additions of great grandchildren. She always enjoyed and looked
forward to spending her holidays, extended visits, special shopping
trips, and vacations with each of
them.
Mexie was a hardworking and devoted mother, wife, and
daughter. She was a natural born caretaker who often cared for several
family members. She was a strong and selfless woman whom rarely
complained or talked about herself. She always greeted everyone with a
smile and a caring ear to listen. Mexie was a simple lady who liked to
joke around, and thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the little things
in life.
Her words of wisdom, encouragement, and love she gave
to her family will always be remembered and cherished in their hearts
forever.

At Mexie’s request, there will be no visitation or
service. Mexie’s immediate family will hold a special celebration of
life at a later date with close family and
friends.
