Menno Reimer
February 26, 1961 – February 4, 2023

Menno Reimer was born to Cornie and Mary Reimer on February 26, 1961, at Spanish Lookout, Belize.
He passed away on February 3, 2023, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, after a brief illness. He almost reached the age of 62 years.
Menno was the oldest of eight siblings, and he took the responsibility seriously of helping to supervise the younger ones, and trying to ease the load for his parents. At the age of fifteen, he with his parents, moved from Belize to Rosenort, Manitoba. This transition was a difficult one for him, and he often lovingly referred to “growing up in the jungle”. The primitive lifestyle did not lend itself well to formal schooling, and he often lamented the fact that he had so little education, especially as he saw what seemed to him huge limitations in his abilities.
In his youth, Menno met the Lord and had a clear experience of forgiveness of sins. He was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, at Rosenort, MB, on October 22, 1978. His Christian life was precious to him.
In the year of 1987, Menno packed his few belongings and moved east to Tatamagouche, NS, leaving his parental home and joining the newly established congregation in the Maritimes. On July 8,1993, he married me, Delores Penner, at Greenland, MB. We shared nearly 30 years together, making our home at Tatamagouche. Our hearts were overjoyed when we were able to welcome a son into our home.
Menno was a loving husband, and a kind, compassionate father. His kindness and interest in other people led him to visiting with many neighbours, fellow farmers and beekeepers. He enjoyed travelling to visit relatives far and near. He was a lover of nature, taking note of the opening of each new variety of blossom throughout the season. It seemed natural that honeybees should become a way of making a living for him. He was meticulous in his observation and care of the hives. He also loved farm animals, and the farm was never complete without some type of livestock to care for. Sheep raising was a side venture, which later turned to a small herd of beef cattle. Tending the cattle together with his son was something he very much enjoyed. He loved his family, and the most recent highlight was the arrival of a grandson, bringing a sparkle to his eyes.
Life held difficulties for Menno, and he struggled against them. We as the family, are comforted in knowing we have a loving Heavenly Father, who understands every situation perfectly, and does all things well. We gladly commit our dear one to His care. We hope to meet him on Heaven’s shore.
Those left to cherish fond memories are his loving wife, Delores, Tatamagouche, NS, his son Joseph and wife Charlotte, and grandson Dominic of Westlock, AB, his mother, Mary Reimer of Steinbach, MB, his brothers, Isaac and Nadine Reimer, Frank and Wilma Reimer, Ruben Reimer, Millie Reimer, his sisters, Tina and Patrick Andries, Martha Goossen, Eric Goossen, Sara and Edwin Morales, and Elma and Evan Penner, sister-in-law Verna and Robert Stutzman, and many nieces and nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and his wife’s parents.
Resting in Coulter’s Funeral Home, Tatamagouche, from where a time of visitation will be held Wednesday, February 8 from 7-8pm. The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, February 9 at 10:30am in Church of God in Christ (Mennonite), 2924 Hwy. 6, Tatamagouche. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
