HAGGAR, Melvin George
July 22, 1929 – February 2, 2023
Dad passed away peacefully in his 94th year. Beloved husband of Shirley and cherished father of Melvin, Cynthia (deceased), Philip, Jennifer, Patricia and Stephen. For over 60 years, Grandpa enjoyed the family cottage instigating projects with his many grandchildren (wishing for a few at a time). An ingenious project was using his water bike to rinse laundry as he rode around the lake. He is survived by his sister Geraldine, and predeceased by his sisters Diane and Janet.
Mel joined the RCAF at the age of 18 in 1948 and served for 27 years, then joined the Public Service for 15 years in charge of the Aeronautical Drafting office. As he would put it «same job, different hat!» The family truly appreciates the kindness and commitment of the staff at Crown Ridge Place in caring for Melvin and enjoying his quick wit.
A service of remembrance will be held at St. George’s Anglican Church, Trenton on Saturday February 25 at 2 pm. A reception will follow at the church.
