McPherson, John
John (Jack) McPherson
August 13, 1929 – September 15, 2024
At the age of 95, Jack passed away peacefully on the morning of September 15th,
with his beloved wife, Margaret, by his side, and the love of his family surrounding him.
Jack will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Margaret; his children, Peter (Heather) and Rodney;
his grandchildren, Declan and Hamish; and many other family members and friends.
Jack was predeceased by his parents, James A. McPherson and Hattie Bell Munroe, as well as his siblings Florence (Alex), Alexander, Angus (Kathryn), Mary, and Margaret (Tom). He is survived by his older brother, Leslie (Roberta).
Born and raised on the family farm in Puslinch Township, Crieff, Ontario, Jack was the youngest son of seven children. Alongside typical farm work, he learned to knit from his grandmother. When his grandsons were born, he made perfect baby booties for each of them.
Jack would go on to run his own landscaping business followed by a garden and pet supply store in Stratford, E.G.Budd & Son. These ventures gave him immense satisfaction and allowed him to work alongside his wife and sons on many occasions.
Jack was a man of endless curiosity, an open mind, and a wonderful listener. He was always interested in the news of the day and in the lives of his wife, children, and grandchildren, ready with thoughtful questions and words of support.
A long-time Blue Jays fan, Jack and Margaret attended many games, including years of Spring training.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to Jack’s long-time PSW Miranda and the staff at the Prince Edward Hospice in Picton for their care and compassion. Special thanks also to Margaret and Jack’s wonderful neighbours, Don and Terry, and Jamie and Wayne.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be shared at www.ainsworthfuneralhome.com
