Passed peacefully away at her home in St. John’s , Mavis Hopper (Cleal) of Creston South , age 87.
Mavis was born 1935 in Creston South to Samuel and Muriel Cleal, She married her husband Nicholas Hooper in 1960 and they had their only daughter Doreen in 1975. Mavis loved working along with her husband in their grocery store. After they retired she spent much of her time enjoying her knitting and attending her church where she was in the choir which she very much loved.
Mavis was predeceased by her loving husband Nicholas Hooper who was waiting for her with open arms. Father, Samuel Cleal, Mother, Muriel Cleal and stepmother who raised her from a young girl Selina Cleal. Parents-in-law, James and Caroline Hooper. Sister-in-law, Rita Wiscombe and Brother-in-law, Gary Wiscombe.
Mavis leaves to mourn her daughter Doreen Murphy / Paul; grand children Brandon, Vanessa, Ashley and Keesha Murphy; her brother Samuel Cleal and wife Carol and their son, her nephew, Wayne Cleal; her nieces Leah / Dave Keating, Caroline / Fred Penney and nephew Gary /Janet Wiscombe, and her special best friend Grace Legge who she missed dearly the last few years when she moved to St. John’s. As well as her long time childhood friend Charlotte (Lottie) Pierce, and many great nieces, nephews, cousins and a large circle of wonderful friends.
The Hooper Family will be accepting visitors at Peninsula Funeral Home on Friday, July 14th, 2023 from
2:00 pm to 4:00 pm
7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Funeral will take place at St. Michael’s Anglican Church, Creston South on Saturday, July 15th, 2023 at 2:00pm.
Interment to follow at St. Michaels Anglican Cemetery.
In Mavis’s memory donations may be made to the St. Micheal’s Anglican Cemetery Fund.
