Maurice Melanson, 82, of Castel Des Flots Bleus,
Cap-Pelé, passed away on Tuesday June 6, 2023 at the
Moncton Hospital. Born in Saint-André-LeBlanc, he was the
son of the late Arthur and Laura (Bourque)
Melanson.
Before retiring, Maurice completed his career with
Westmorland Fisheries as a truck driver and mechanic. Outside of work,
he enjoyed spending his free time walking in nature and
hunting.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rosalita
(Bourque); a daughter, Jocelyne Poirier (Daniel) of Shediac; two
sisters: Ida-Mai Gallant (Ernest) of Saint-André-LeBlanc
and Angela Brine (Pat) of Portage; three brothers: Ronald (Claire) of
Saint-André-LeBlanc, Laurie (Denise) of Shemogue, and
Léonard «Len» (Suzanne Gallant) of
Cap-Pelé; one sister in-law, Cecile Melanson of
Trois-Ruisseau; two granddaughters: Christelle and Janelle; as well as
several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he
was predeceased by a daughter at birth, Rosalita; a sister, Lillianne;
brother, Ola.
As per his wishes, there will be no visitation. The
funeral mass will be celebrated at
Ste-Thérèse-d’Avila R.C. Church, 2648
Acadie Road, Cap-Pelé, on Tuesday June 13 at 3 pm.
Interment will be in the Frenette Columbarium,
Shediac.
In memory of
Maurice, a contribution to the N.B. Heart and Stroke Foundation or a
charity of the donor’s choice would be
appreciated.
