Passed away peacefully surrounded by family, in Ottawa on Monday, March 11th. Maureen, in her 84th year, beloved wife and best friend of the late Paul Stanley Dunseath for 44 years. Loving mother of Leslie Pottage (David Ladd) and Kevin (Doreen Wilson). Special grandma to Rob, Zack and Dallas, and loving great grandma to Prudence and Claire. Maureen is also survived by numerous cousins in the United Kingdom with whom she was very close.
Born in Hamble Hampshire, England, Maureen emigrated to Canada in her mid-teens to join her father who had emigrated earlier. Maureen subsequently met Paul Dunseath on a blind date set up by colleagues in the law office where she worked, and the two were married a couple of years later. Maureen and Paul lived in a number of different places in Canada due to Paul’s work in the military, before settling in Ottawa in 1965, with their two young children. Maureen ran the WineArt store in Ottawa for 14 years before retiring and later spent many happy years as a volunteer Teacher’s Assistant at the primary school in her area.
A funeral service will take place at Riverside United Church, 3191 Riverside Drive, Ottawa on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 1pm followed by a reception. Interment will follow at Beechwood Cemetery, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa at 3pm.
A special thanks to all of Maureen’s PSWs, the Ottawa Hospital Academic Health Team, and the Palliative Care Program at the Ottawa Hospital for the compassionate care given to Maureen over the past two years. Donations to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation gratefully accepted.
